By the way, 400 might seem like a huge number, but for smokers it isn't all that much: for someone who smokes a 20s pack a day, 400 cigarettes is just 20 days of puffing. 10s? 40 days. That's all :-)
Wow... that's pretty gross, Shyam. Sure is food for thought. I've cut back again since coming home from India... back down to 1 or 2 a day... I really like that cigarette and coffee in the morning.
But I think I might just skip that little indulgence today... will see how I feel tomorrow.
Of course, the air I breathe can be pretty gross too... ;-)
Confession time...I smoke 5 to 6 per day. I don't smoke in the house(don't want the Kiddy Kats) to get sick, or in my car. Oh..Dawn that 1st one in the morning with coffee...is the best! About 6 months ago I started smoking a Native American brand that is 100% natural..as in tobbaco only no additives or chemicals and has a cotton filter. I know it still is a bad habit..... This film is an eye opener.
I'm a recent quitter - 9 months. Recent, considering that I had been smoking for about 15 years...
Now I can't help keep thinking of what a useless habit it is :-)
Well smoking isn't so much a habit, as it is an addiction. I stopped for 3 years once...and everytime I smelled smoke when someone lit up, I wanted one. My little sis stopped 17 years ago, and still gets that urge when I light up around her. Do you ever experience that Shyam?
I smoked for a week when I was 15, just to be 'in with the crowd', I didn't like it then and don't now. My hubby, brother and sister all smoke around me, so I guess you can call me a 'second hand smoker'!...I think I should show them this video, a definite eye opener....
I am also an 'ex-smoker'. I smoked for...a very very long time.
I've been free for 12 years.
Please don't anyone who smokes get upset. I totally understand
what smoking does for you. I loved it. Quitting was not easy.
But not smoking is so much easier than smoking. I hope that makes
sense.
I can laugh without coughing. That's huge for me. I love to laugh.
I couldn't laugh freely when I smoked.
I admire all you quitters for your willpower, am glad to hear that Dawn's cut back to only 1 or 2 a day away from my influence, and I know this evil habit's gonna kill me.
But here's the other side of the argument all the same:
My Dad smoked for years, one day he came home, put his cigs on the side and said thats it...He hasn't touched one since, it must be 25 years now...The money he saved in 12 months, not buying them took our family (6 of us) to the Isle of Wight for a fortnights holiday....My sister stopped for 18 months, then her partner died and she started again, she has to stop again as she is waiting for a Kidney transplant..She said its the hardest thing she has ever done..I am so glad I didn't like it....
