I had actually logged in to write about this movie i just finished watching when i saw Naveen's review on Vaaranam Aayiram and i just couldnt help but reply to that.....however the main intention was to write about this movie which i just happened to find, saved in my friend's system......its 'the happening'......now before i begin(and i dont really know where and what to begin with) i wish to say that i love Manoj Night Shyamalan........i love his work........i loved his work...........Sixth Sense, Signs(my all time favourite), unbreakable and even the village......i found his whole idea of dealing with fear, supernatural and then saying exactly the opposite in 'the village' damn exciting.......'the happening' was not happening at all............infact i kept saying this throughout the movie...'its not happening'........I mean why.....am feeling really sad and disappointed..........not Shyamalan.......anybody but him........well i guess am over reacting but thats exactly how am feeling right now..........
The film starts with a shaky promise and then nothing..........few shots of people dying.....trying to kill themselves......a few mumbo jubmo about some neurotoxin emitted by the plants and then more people dying........The film doesnt build any kind of fear, curiosity(maybe just in the beginning), apprehension at all........there's no tempo.........no spontianeity....nothing at all................
The protagonists Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel doesnt help either........infact it seems like a casual affair for them........like it happens everyday in their lives.........Mark still makes an effort but Zooey left me completely gooey(well.....)........i guess writing about the movie helped me calm down a bit........I am a complete optimist and i still have my faith in Shyamalan.............

My favourite M Night Shyamalan film is Unbreakable . After Sixth Sense, though. I thought he was a master craftsman in Sixth Sense.

After that things fell into a predictable pattern in my opinion... Lady in the Water was a particularly low point for me. I haven't watched The Happening yet though :-)

Hi Sidharth, every group is dependent on its members for activity. You can share your reviews by clicking on "start discussion" and it will become active again.

FYI, this is the comment box for the group and is for general messages. Starting a new thread would be the best way to share a review in the "Discussion Forum". In case you have any queries, please leave a note here. Thanks.
