Pavaline Studios lands in the film festivals with Alienated
Alienated, starring Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos) looking to create a stir in the film festivals worldwide
Vincent Pastore’s character Gino is dealing with something bigger than the mob. It’s in the trees and in the air, he thinks it’s everywhere. Pavaline Studios created a short film that will have critics wondering what is next for the savvy independent film company in New York City. President/Executive producer Marc Dahan and producer David Allensworth are making a name for themselves and it’s stamped with approval from critics that viewed the screening. Pastore has delivered a role no one has seen and although the film’s concept is close to home for him, it is also far away, like in outer space. Handling the supporting role of his zany side kick is actor Louis Vanaria. “We are submitting the film to all of the top film festivals worldwide and I’m delighted to see what the possibilities are”, says Paul Borghese who directed the film. Sundance, Palm Springs International, AFI, SWSW and Cannes are a few of the festivals on the list that will receive screener DVD versions of the film.
The film originated from a short script competition and the winning writers Charles Disney and Lee Barron were flown to New York to participate in the full production of the film. “It was unbelievable to see a full film crew make our script into a movie. It is what I dreamt would happen one day,” says Charles Disney.
Although Pavaline is excited about finding the right screenplays to produce, they are equally excited about their distribution department that will distribute features through VOD. Daniel Wuthrich, former executive director of distribution for Disney in Europe is Vice President of Acquisition and Distribution at Pavaline Studios. Distributing great content will be one of Pavaline’s priority goal.
Pavaline is not your typical film studio. They are cutting edge with an innovative approach in finding the best screenwriters in the world. “We have created the filmmakers’ network (www.pavaline.com) that allow screenwriters to submit to us without an agent. Our open door policy applies to screenwriters from around the world. We are looking for great scripts and this is the best way to find them,” says executive producer Joseph H. James, Jr.
Viewers will be able to watch the short film Alienated as an opening for paid downloadable feature films that will be distributed. Also, Alienated is coming to a festival near you soon.
